Pathways...


The streets were slick with rain, mud and small patches of dejected snow from days ago. She stepped through the cold dark streets without thought or concern, so wrapped in her own fears, she couldn’t feel the sting of the whipping wind or her soaked heels.


She squinted as if trying to peer through a vail, but walked with purpose through the park she spent her childhood playing in. She pulled her coat closed when she realized that her blue silk blouse was made is a shade darker from the rain.


Tears swelled her eyes, but she willed herself past the emotion and focused on the task at hand. Her phone vibrated in her pocket but it only made her walk faster and though she couldn’t see well in the murky darkness, she knew where she needed to be. She turned off the path and around the bend…
